Go ahead - Perfect mum snacks for on the GO !

Being a mum is hard work I'm not going to lie it really is! when you first have your baby you look after yourself ( even more so if breast feeding ) I remember when i was breast feeding i was always eating ( To help with milk supply ill have you know ! ) But once your baby becomes a toddler you will find more often then not you are either sharing your food or forgetting to feed yourself all together, I always make sure i take snacks out for nearly five year old Bodhi but i never take anything for myself. until now that it ! When Go-Ahead got in touch wanting the snack range reviewing i knew it would be a perfect mum snack or mum breakfast on the go.

The range has something to suit all tastes and each smart snack also comes in a choice of flavours, From snacks i have tried before such as the yogurt breaks ( crispy biscuits with fruit fillings each slice coated in a layer of yogurt topping ) these come in strawberry,forest fruits,raspberry,cherry & also tropical the RRP is £1.99 for a pack of 5 ( each pack has 2 slices ) so if you do end up sharing it isn't so bad! these are great for taking out on the go or leaving a few packets in your desk as work for a little 11am pick me up.

Next we have the crispy slices, these are a lot like the yogurt breaks just without the yogurt! these are bigger pack sizes tho with x3 slices per pack and 5 packs in each box and a RRP of only £1.65 ! they also come in a huge range of flavours with apple, forest fruit, raspberry , orange , cherry , blueberry and also strawberry ! I've been enjoying these with a cup of tea after the morning school run.

fruity bakes are a golden baked bar with more fruit filling inside these are more cake like then biscuits i have even warmed them up and enjoyed with ice-cream for a after dinner treat the apple ones warmed up taste just like apple pie ( Lush ) they also come in strawberry for me these are a little too sweet ( the filling is a little like jam ? ) but Bodhi loves then, and have had them in his packed lunches. RRP £1.99 for x6 bars

Lastly we have the new cookie bites these are amazing and i am hooked, little bags of mini sized cookies in either white chocolate & raspberry or chocolate & orange the RRP is £1.99 for x6 bags these are perfect on the go snacks we took some with us to our local zoo last weekend and the whole family enjoyed them. Bodhi loves the chocolate & orange and always bugs me for them if i ask if he would like a snack! kids!!

So thank you Go-Ahead! my morning eating habits are much better now and we have found a range of snacks that as a family we all enjoy.

Heavenly is the brainchild of Shauna McCarney-Blair , A mum herself to 4 children as well as a lover of all things organic & nutritious. Shana came up with the idea for Heavenly when frustrated by the poor choice of baby food products in Northern Ireland for babies & children. Shana began by creating a guilt free range of organic baby weaning meals for the Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland market and now Heavenly has moved into snacks with availability across mainland UK & Ireland.

Heavenly products are available from Ocado, Tescos , Morrisons Waitress and on line via Heavenly's website www.heavenlytasty.com

I now always make sure i have stock of Heavenly products they are a huge hit in our house hold, They feel like a much more grown up children snacks with a great range of flavours and products.

Would like to thank them again for sending us our snacks and getting us hooked!

Kiddylicious the perfect holiday snack

A family summer holiday can often be stressful in the planning and before having a child i would never have thought to take snacks away with me to enjoy while i was away, Children's tastes are all different and so are the snacks you can buy. We spend our summer holidays in the south of Spain and i have struggled with what to buy that isn't full of sugar and will keep in the heat. We are huge Kiddylicious fans and they are Bodhi's go to snack while we are out and about so i knew i wanted to take these away with us this year.

We took a range of snacks that we was very kindly sent to enjoy and Bodhi was soon tucking into a bag of veg straws on the aeroplane, We all really enjoyed these and they got shared about with cousins and nanny & granddad as well , We did all agree tho that these would be even better with a dip !

While we was away we spent the day out at the local zoo, Knowing i had a few snacks in the boy for the boys was great as the only thing the zoo had on offer was ice creams

Bodhi and his cousins enjoyed having a little rest in the shade and shared a bag of the new pea snaps, The older boys loved the fruit wriggles and didn't believe me when i told them that they are made from fruit ! Just goes to show that " children " snacks don't have to only be for younger children to enjoy.

We also enjoyed lots of time playing in the pool and the boys spent ages playing with the balloons in the pool ( only used for play not at a float ) As we all know everyone is always hungry after a swim so once again i brought out a few bags of snacks for the boys that they enjoyed pool side ( granddad does have a strict no food in the pool rule but after seeing how mess free and nicely the boys ate these he didn't mind )

What would a week to Spain be without a trip to the beach we went pretty much every afternoon, one of the things i like most about the kiddylicious snacks is that they are in single serving sizes so no messing about just grab and go, The boys didn't seem to mind the added sand !

You can pick up Kiddylicious in supermarkets , on line and in Boots stores They are often on deals i would strongly suggest these as your go to snack for taking away on holiday this summer or even on days out within the UK

As always Kiddylicious gets a big two thumbs up from myself and Bodhi
you can check out the range of snacks on the website ( Bodhi loves the  smoothie melts )

Forest feast Perfect picnic foods * Review *

Summer Holidays are just days away and i for one can not wait! Lazy days and no school runs, Getting to spend time together with Bodhi before he starts big school in September. We was very kindly sent a bag full of yummy snacks and treats from forest feast.

They stock a huge range of nuts/seeds/fruits and street foods, I couldn't wait to try them out and with my mums birthday coming up i planned to take her for a picnic with the snacks. We packed the wonder berries / sour cherries and coconut flakes along with the coated peas.

We had a lovely picnic and we all enjoyed the forest feast items, My dad ate most of the peas but i did get to try some of the BBQ flavours and they were very tasty and just slightly on the spicy side. A perfect change from other snacks . Bodhi enjoyed them and asked for them the next day with his lunch.

The dried fruit was also a huge hit, I have always struggled with dried fruit as Bodhi can't have raisins and most mixed fruits (Always) have raisins in them but i was pleased to find the wonder berry mix was packed full of yummy berries we mixed these with the sour cherries and coconut and we all tucked in and enjoyed. I have future plans to make flapjacks with this mix of fruit for more summer picnics and days out. The Wonder berry mix is also one of your 5 a day per 25G

To make the most of the summer we have lots of days out planed that i will be taking snacks along with me to keep costs down.

* day at the beach
* zoo
* soft play
* play dates at the park
* family visits
* summer holiday to Spain
* picnics ( At home or out and about )

Hope you all have a lovely summer Holidays and i would definitely recommend them check out the summer snacks that forest feast stock you can buy online from amazon and also online via Ocado.

kiddylicious New Crunchy range

When Kiddylicious asked if Bodhi would like to try out the new crunchy range i knew he definitely would, we was both very pleased when a box arrived filled with goodies not only the new crunchy grapes and crunchy peas & sweetcorn but also bags of fruit wriggles and smoothie melts for him to try.

Bodhi has had the fruit wriggles in the past and always enjoyed them , they are a low sugar snack/treat isn't something i would let Bodhi have everyday but they are great for keeping in your handbag/change bag for an out and about snack , they are also pretty much messy free so perfect for travel snacks. We took some on holiday with us last summer.

Bodhi was very keen to try the smoothie melts as he loves smoothie drinks, these little flat shapes melt on your tongue and they are very tasty ( yes i did try them! ) again perfect size bag for a little on the go snack.

Lastly Bodhi tried the new crunchy range, wasn't a hit for him, They are very crunchy and taste like the fruit and veg but i just don't think Bodhi liked the texture. Always good to try new things tho and i am sure others will really enjoy them.

I have stocked up on the smoothie melts as Bodhi will often ask for them when offered a snack, They range from 50/60p per bag but are often on muilt deals in super markets

Thank you to Kiddylicious for sending us these snacks to try 2/3 thumbs up from Bodhi

Organix , Simple , Tasty , child friendly recipes

When Organix got in touch with me asking if id like some products sent to Bodhi i said yes straight away, From when Bodhi was tiny we have brought their products.

Starting from 4-6 months  ( stage 1 ) with smooth fruit pots and baby rice / porridge. We baby lead with Bodhi so didn't fully go in for the rices and porridge but the little fruit pots are fab! a great way to get your child to taste new and different fruits, they them move onto stage 2 with lumps and so on until we get to the stage Bodhi is now at the 12 months + this range is huge! Full of tasty treats that are not full of sugar and E numbers

This is the range we got sent out in the post and Bodhi was really keen to get tasting right away the gingerbread men were a clear winner in both mine and Bodhi's view, just the right size and full of flavour and no chocolate bean buttons in sight!! Bodhi thought it was great that his biscuits had different farm animals on and requested one of each for snack time during a playdoh afternoon

Over on the organix website they have pages and pages of fun easy child friendly recipes to make and do at home with your child one of these recipes is these Easter biscuits ( Who wouldn't love them all year round tho right? ) They are super tasty and really easy to make , you can even freeze the mix for another day and top with what ever you like.

I am looking forward to trying out other recipes from the website and spending more time making yummy foods with Bodhi , we will also still be picking up items from the Organix range , They are stocked in all supermarkets and make perfect snacks for lunch boxes, days out , trips to the park and play dates to share with friends.
